Pastor Isai in Mexicali in 2014

2015 Group from La Sierra University

Friends, I am so excited to be...

leading out this Service Project for the High School ministry at Crosswalk Church. Our Mexicali Service Project is close to my heart. I first visited the “Casa Hogar Niño Feliz” orphanage when I was in the 9th Grade. None of us had ever been a part of an international service project. Nevertheless, we were able to raise enough money to give food supplies to the orphanage and give every single child a Christmas present. Sure, we were not building a church, setting up medical clinics, or baptizing thousands, but what that trip did for me was change the way I saw the world. This trip showed me that I don’t don’t live in a bubble and that I don’t have to go far or spend a lot of money to make a difference.

Since then, I have visited Casa Hogar Niño Feliz 6 times. These trips have inspired me to pursue a more tangible expression of Jesus. I cannot wait to share this with the high school kids at Crosswalk Church.

What service project will we be involved in?

Our group will be focusing our efforts to help restore the facility of an orphanage in Mexicali called Casa Hogar Niño Feliz. They are needing to renovate some doors, shower stalls, and need several walls painted. On top of that, they have requested assistance with resources for a proper fire alarm system and flooring for their play area.

Where will we stay?

We will be staying at the Calexico Mission School (CMS). CMS is an Seventh-day Adventist K-12 academy that is located in Calexico, California. We will be sleeping in the gym and some of the classrooms. Because it is so close to the US/Mexico border, we will cross to Mexicali during the day and come back to Calexico to sleep.

Is there a deadline to sign up?

Yes. The deadline to sign up is February 27. The deadline to pay is March 2.

How much does it cost?

The trip price is $150. This includes 8 meals, ravel Insurance, Car Insurance, Gas, Lodging, and an emergency fee. Full cost must be paid by March 2.

Can I go if I am not in high school?

No, this trip is only for high school students. However, you may be a part of the project by being a sponsor or by donating. If you want to apply to be a sponsor, fill out the form below.

Do you still need donations?

YES! We have not included a service project fee for students because we want the price to be as low as possible. Because of that, we are depending on donations for the projects we intend to complete. For more info contact Pastor Isai.
